Sanssouci Palace and Park
The Old Fritz has brought the dream of a German Versailles to Potsdam in form of his Sanssouci Castle. World famous and added to the World Heritage List of Unesco in 1990. Here, 250 years the supreme garden design unite with the works of the most accomplished architects and sculptors of the time. Later, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. expanded the garden between the private castle Sanssouci and impressive New Palace.

Cecilienhof is the last Hohenzollern palace, built from 1913 to 1917 in an English country style. Kaiser Wilhelm II. had the castle built for his eldest son, Crown Prince Wilhelm, as a residence. Adapted to the geographical features, the castle in brick and wood fits in perfectly with the New Garden and the surrounding area.
Until World War II. it was the residence of the last German royal couple Wilhelm and Cecilie of Prussia. In the summer of 1945, Churchill, Truman and Stalin made history at Cecilienhof Palace. In the dignified halls of Cecilienhof, the victorious powers of World War II. met for the Potsdam Conference, officially called Tripartite Conference of Berlin. The meeting manifested the division of Germany and Europe.
Today, the castle is a historic memorial site. The conference rooms and work spaces of the participants of the Potsdam Conference, as well as the private residence of the royal couple can be visited.

Belvedere on the Pfingstberg
Located a 100 metres above the city on the small mountain Pfingstberg, you will find an ensemble of buildings, the Belvedere. A new multimedia, bilingual permanent exhibition entitled "Potsdam's Visions with a View - The Pfingstberg and its Eventful History" allows visitors to gain remarkable insights into the events of the last 150 years.
Friedrich Wilhelm IV. realized his dream of a romantic-classical castle with large arcades and colonnades, galleries and two observation towers by building the Belvedere. The ensemble also includes the Pomona temple, completed in 1801 and probably the first building of the young architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The Belvedere is surrounded by gardens in the English style, a great place for a stroll to the New Garden.
From December to February, the Belvedere Castle is on winter break and remains closed.
